Amazon Web Services (AWS) is set to make a historic investment in Indiana by establishing a new data center campus in St. Joseph County, near New Carlisle. The $11 billion project represents the largest capital investment in Indiana’s history and is expected to create at least 1,000 new jobs in the region.

The campus, which will house state-of-the-art technology infrastructure for cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) services, is part of AWS’s broader strategy to expand its operations across the United States. The project has already received significant support from the local and state governments, with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) offering substantial tax incentives, including data center sales tax exemptions and other credits totaling millions of dollars.

Governor Eric J. Holcomb emphasized the importance of this investment, stating, “This significant investment solidifies Indiana’s leadership position in the economy of the future, and will undoubtedly have a positive ripple effect on the town of New Carlisle, the north-central region, and the state of Indiana for years to come.”

The data center campus is expected to be completed over the next 10 to 15 years, with construction already underway. Once operational, it will provide long-term economic benefits to the community, including additional jobs during the construction phase and ongoing opportunities within the tech sector.
