Altair Technology Conducts Comprehensive Review of Antminer S21 XP 270T

The Antminer S21 XP 270T, announced in June 2024 by Bitmain, has quickly made waves in the cryptocurrency mining sector.

This latest iteration of the Antminer series improves mining efficiency by an impressive 37% compared to its predecessor, the S19 XP.

The release of the first batch was met with high expectations, as it sets new performance standards for competitors such as Bitdeer, Block, Auradine, and MicroBT. The full release is expected in the first week of October.

One of the standout features of the Antminer S21 XP is its enhanced hashboards.

These aluminum-backed hashboards are equipped with 91 chips per board, significantly more than the 65 chips found on the S21 Pro. Each chip hashes at approximately 1 Th, although this is about 20% lower than the per-chip hashrate on the S21 Pro.

Bitmain’s focus on improved efficiency at lower clock frequencies is evident in this design choice.

Additionally, the S21 XP uses an Amlogic A113D control board, similar to previous models, but with one notable difference: the inclusion of a 0.91″ I2C OLED display.

Performance tests show the Antminer S21 XP hashing at 273T while consuming 3684W, achieving a real-world efficiency of 13.49 J/T, which is about 12% better than the S21 Pro. Moreover, the fans were operating at only 60% capacity during testing, suggesting potential for overclocking.

This unit is part of a small, early-release batch, with global shipments beginning soon. It has undoubtedly raised the bar in the Bitcoin mining industry.
