Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, has announced a significant acquisition of a 75% controlling stake in Motivair Corp, a specialist in liquid cooling technology for high-performance computing systems.
The $850 million all-cash deal reflects Schneider Electric’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its portfolio in data center technologies and meet the growing demands of high-density computing systems fueled by artificial intelligence and large-scale data processing.
Motivair, based in Buffalo, New York, brings decades of expertise in liquid cooling systems designed for supercomputers and data centers.
The company’s technology enables efficient thermal management for high-power computing environments, ensuring energy-efficient operations that align with Schneider Electric’s sustainability initiatives.
The acquisition also positions Schneider Electric to offer advanced cooling solutions in response to increasing power demands, driven by AI models and next-gen data centers
The deal is expected to close in the coming quarters, subject to regulatory approvals. Schneider Electric plans to fully acquire the remaining 25% stake in Motivair by 2028, enhancing its competitive edge in the data center cooling market.
