Colorado-based Bitcoin mining firm Revolve Labs has unveiled plans for a new $60 million data center in Glencoe, Minnesota.
The proposed facility will include AI data centers, extensive cooling systems, and backup generators, strategically designed to optimize Bitcoin transaction processing while addressing noise concerns raised in prior locations.
The planned site spans 6.2 acres and is expected to employ approximately 10 people upon completion. Revolve Labs has collaborated closely with the Glencoe Economic Development Authority to acquire the land and secure a new power substation to support operational demands.
This expansion not only bolsters Revolve Labs’ mining capacity but also promises local economic benefits, having contributed over $500,000 in net annual revenue to Glencoe, which has been reinvested into public infrastructure.
Noise levels generated by Bitcoin mining equipment have prompted controversy in the past, with sound levels reaching as high as 85 decibels. To mitigate these concerns, Revolve Labs’ project incorporates design elements to significantly reduce noise, potentially positioning the new center as a quieter and more community-friendly operation compared to previous facilities.
