NVIDIA, the world’s most valuable company, has entered the nuclear energy sector by partnering with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) to implement artificial intelligence (AI) solutions at California’s Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant.

This collaboration aims to enhance operational efficiency and document management within the facility.

The initiative involves deploying Atomic Canyon’s Neutron Enterprise, a generative AI solution built on NVIDIA’s full-stack AI platform. This system is designed to streamline document search and retrieval processes, significantly reducing the time required to access critical information.

Diablo Canyon, California’s only remaining nuclear power plant, contributes nearly 9% of the state’s electricity and generates 17% of its zero-carbon energy. The integration of AI technologies is expected to bolster the plant’s role in providing clean and reliable energy to meet the state’s growing demands.

This partnership marks a significant milestone as the first commercial deployment of on-site generative AI at a U.S. nuclear power plant, setting a precedent for future technological advancements in the nuclear energy sector.
