Texas Legislator Giovanni Capriglione Advocates For Strategic Bitcoin Reserve

Texas State Representative Giovanni Capriglione has expressed a desire for Texas to establish a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve ahead of federal initiatives.

Speaking at the Texas Blockchain Summit in Dallas, Capriglione stated, “It’s destined to happen somewhere. I’d rather it happen here first.”

This sentiment aligns with recent discussions among Texas lawmakers about creating a state-held Bitcoin reserve. Dennis Porter, CEO of the Satoshi Action Fund, revealed that preliminary conversations with a Texas legislator regarding such legislation have begun.

These state-level initiatives mirror federal efforts, such as U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis’s introduction of the BITCOIN Act of 2024, which proposes the establishment of a national Bitcoin strategic reserve.

As Texas boasts the world’s eighth-largest economy, with a GDP of $2.4 trillion in 2022, the creation of a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve could significantly impact both the state’s economic resilience and the broader adoption of digital assets.
