Bitcoin Surpasses Stock Market in Total Trading Hours

Bitcoin, the world’s leading cryptocurrency, has now logged more trading hours than the U.S. stock market.

This milestone highlights the continuous 24/7 nature of cryptocurrency markets compared to traditional stock exchanges, which operate on fixed trading hours. Since its inception in 2010, Bitcoin has clocked an estimated 123,774 hours of trading, surpassing the stock market’s 100,737 hours during the same period.

The difference in trading hours underlines Bitcoin’s appeal as a global, decentralized currency accessible at any time, offering flexibility beyond the confines of traditional equity markets. This shift is reflective of the growing influence of digital assets on the financial landscape.

Matthew Sigel, Head of Digital Assets Research at Van Eck, emphasized how Bitcoin’s continuous availability has attracted more investors worldwide, further reinforcing the cryptocurrency’s dominance in the financial world. As the crypto market grows, this gap in trading hours between Bitcoin and the stock market is likely to increase.
