Serve Robotics, a prominent player in the autonomous delivery sector, has announced a partnership with Shake Shack and Uber Eats.
The collaboration will bring robot-powered food delivery to select Shake Shack locations in Los Angeles. This marks the first time Shake Shack customers in the area can receive their meals via autonomous sidewalk robots.
The initiative is part of a broader plan to deploy up to 2,000 of these robots across the U.S. by 2025, expanding beyond the 100 currently operating in Los Angeles.
Uber Eats, which holds a 16% stake in Serve Robotics, has been a significant supporter of this robotic delivery platform, reflecting the growing trend towards autonomous solutions in food delivery.
The robots are designed to navigate busy urban environments, including high-traffic areas like Hollywood Boulevard.
They complete deliveries at a higher rate than human couriers, with Serve Robotics reporting a 99.94% delivery success rate.
The deployment in Los Angeles serves as a testbed for potential nationwide expansion, with the goal of improving efficiency and customer satisfaction through innovation.
