Hut 8 Launches GPU-as-a-Service Vertical, Expanding Beyond Bitcoin Mining

Bitcoin mining giant Hut 8 is diversifying its revenue streams with the launch of its GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) program.

Officially announced on September 26, 2024, this initiative offers high-performance computing solutions to AI developers and cloud computing firms, solidifying Hut 8’s push into the AI space. The program, developed in partnership with AdvizeX, utilizes 1,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs housed in a tier-three data center in Chicago.

Hut 8’s shift into AI and cloud computing stems from the increasing challenges faced by traditional Bitcoin miners.

With mining costs rising dramatically due to surges in energy prices and higher network difficulty, Hut 8 aims to offset these hurdles by leveraging its computing infrastructure for new verticals like AI.
