Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to a monumental 14-year, $500 million contract extension, ensuring the 26-year-old slugger remains with the team through the 2039 season.
This agreement ranks as the third-largest in Major League Baseball history, trailing only Juan Soto’s $765 million deal with the New York Mets and Shohei Ohtani’s $700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Guerrero, a four-time All-Star and the 2021 American League MVP runner-up, has been a cornerstone of the Blue Jays’ lineup since his debut in 2019. Over his career, he has compiled a .287 batting average with 160 home runs and 511 RBIs.
The contract does not include any deferred payments and features a full no-trade clause, reflecting the organization’s commitment to Guerrero as a central figure in their long-term plans.
In terms of cryptocurrency, with Bitcoin currently trading at approximately $78,358, Guerrero’s $500 million contract equates to about 6,380 BTC.
