RAM (Random Access Memory) does NOT use flash memory. RAM is a type of volatile memory, meaning it loses its contents when power is turned off.
It’s designed for speed, handling temporary data storage for running applications and system processes in real time. Common types of RAM include DDR4 and DDR5, and it’s critical for multitasking and overall system responsiveness.
In contrast, flash memory is non-volatile, meaning it retains data even when the system is powered down. Flash memory is used in SSDs (Solid-State Drives), USB drives, and memory cards. It’s slower than RAM but much faster than traditional hard drives, and it’s ideal for permanent or semi-permanent storage of files, operating systems, and apps.
