Nvidia has confirmed it will begin manufacturing AI supercomputers within the United States for the first time, planning to build up to $500 billion in domestic AI infrastructure over the next four years.
The move marks a dramatic shift in its manufacturing strategy, as the company localizes critical technology production amid rising demand and global trade tensions.
According to TechCrunch and the Nvidia Blog, production of Blackwell AI GPUs has already started at TSMC’s fabrication sites in Phoenix, Arizona, while new manufacturing facilities are being developed in Houston and Dallas, Texas, with support from partners Foxconn and Wistron.
Per Barron’s, the initiative is designed to boost supply chain resiliency by reducing Nvidia’s dependence on overseas manufacturing. As AI chip demand surges, Nvidia aims to secure a more stable and efficient pipeline through domestic fabrication.
The company’s expansion also supports U.S. efforts to strengthen strategic technology infrastructure in the face of ongoing geopolitical uncertainty, with a direct emphasis on AI supercomputing capability and throughput.
According to Nvidia’s official blog, the project is projected to create hundreds of thousands of American jobs and generate trillions in economic activity in the coming decades.
Nvidia is integrating its own advanced technologies—including Omniverse for digital twin factory modeling and Isaac for robotics-based automation—directly into the construction and operation of these plants, representing a full-circle application of its AI ecosystem.
The strategy aligns with broader national efforts to revitalize onshore manufacturing and secure critical supply chains, as reported by Reuters. Nvidia’s presence in Arizona and Texas places it at the heart of a growing semiconductor corridor that includes major projects from TSMC, Intel, and Samsung.
