The Dallas Mavericks extended their postseason hopes with a commanding 120โ106 victory over the Sacramento Kings in the Western Conference Play-In Tournament on April 16.
Anthony Davis spearheaded the effort, contributing 27 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks, despite managing an adductor injury. โ
The Mavericks surged ahead with a 44-point second quarter, establishing a 71โ48 halftime lead.
Klay Thompson added 23 points, including five three-pointers during the decisive quarter, redeeming himself after a scoreless performance in Sacramento’s play-in game the previous year.
P.J. Washington and Brandon Williams each contributed 17 points, bolstering Dallas’s offense. The Mavericks capitalized on 18 turnovers by the Kings, maintaining control throughout the game.
DeMar DeRozan led Sacramento with 33 points, while Zach LaVine added 20. The Kings’ season concluded with the loss, marking their 18th playoff miss in 19 seasons. Shortly after the game, the team and general manager Monte McNair mutually agreed to part ways. โ
Dallas advances to face the Memphis Grizzlies on April 18, with the winner securing the eighth seed in the Western Conference playoffs and a first-round matchup against the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder.
