Homeland Secretary Kristi Noem’s Gucci Bag Reported Stolen During Event

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s $4,400 Gucci handbag was stolen while she dined at The Capital Burger in Washington, D.C. The bag contained approximately $3,000 in cash, a Louis Vuitton wallet, her DHS access badge, passport, driver’s license, apartment keys, blank checks, medication, and other personal items. Noem was hosting her children and grandchildren for Easter celebrations.

Surveillance footage reviewed by the Secret Service and D.C. Metropolitan Police shows a white male suspect wearing dark clothing, white sneakers, a black baseball cap, and an N95 mask. He entered the restaurant at 7:52 p.m., sat at a table adjacent to Noem’s, and used his foot to slide her bag under his table. He then concealed the bag with his jacket and exited the restaurant within minutes.

At the time of the theft, two plainclothes Secret Service agents assigned to Noem were present in the restaurant but did not witness the incident. The Secret Service is currently investigating the matter.

The theft occurred just days after a similar incident at a nearby restaurant, where another woman’s purse was stolen by a suspect matching the same description. Authorities are investigating potential connections between the two cases.
