The Trump administration has replaced the federal COVID-19 resource website, Pandemic.gov, with a new page dedicated to the lab leak theory of COVID-19’s origins.

The revamped site, titled “Lab Leak: The True Origins of COVID-19,” redirects users from the original COVID-19 information portal to a webpage promoting the controversial theory that the virus originated from a research lab in Wuhan, China.
Per sources, the new webpage includes critiques of public health officials, such as Dr. Anthony Fauci, and institutions like the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
It alleges that U.S. taxpayer money funded high-risk research in Wuhan and accuses federal agencies of obstructing investigations into the virus’s origins. The site also references a December 2024 report from the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, which concluded that a lab-related origin of COVID-19 is likely.
The updated website has sparked mixed reactions. Conservative figures have praised the administration’s transparency, while scientists and public health experts have criticized the move as politically motivated. The lab leak theory remains a subject of debate, with many researchers advocating for further investigation into both lab-related and natural origins.
