APPLE Sets 2026 Deadline To Build EVERY Us-Bound Iphone in India

Apple aims to assemble all iPhones sold in the United States at Indian plants by the end of 2026.

Executives briefed on the plan said output from Foxconn’s new $2.6 billion factory in Bengaluru and Tata Electronics’ expanded Hosur site will scale Indian production beyond 80 million units annually, eclipsing China for US supply.

India currently produces about 18 percent of global iPhone volumes, up from just 1 percent in 2020.

Foxconn’s Bengaluru campus is expected to create 50,000 jobs, while Tata will add two more lines for legacy models, per Reuters.

Government incentives under the Production‑Linked Incentive scheme and duty‑free export corridors underpin the aggressive ramp‑up.

Analysts view the relocation as insulation against potential US tariffs on Chinese goods and geopolitical risk.

Bloomberg calculates Apple must double Indian output to hit the goal, requiring deeper localisation of component suppliers beyond casings and cables.

Chinese partners Luxshare and Pegatron will keep non‑US builds in Shenzhen and Shanghai, yet the shift may shave China’s share of iPhone output to near 60 percent within two years, forecast Wired.

Supply‑chain experts warn that workforce skills, logistics and water availability pose challenges, yet Tim Cook reiterated confidence during April’s earnings call, noting record Indian revenue.

Market reaction has been muted; shares trade near $212 after a 22 percent year‑to‑date gain, as investors digest manufacturing risk alongside diversification upside.
