In Changsha, Hunan Province, China, a gas station has introduced robotic attendants that autonomously refuel vehicles and handle payments, operating 24/7 without breaks.
These robots utilize visual recognition technology to locate the fuel tank cap, open it, refuel, and close the cap—all within approximately two minutes.
The system is initiated through a mobile app, allowing drivers to schedule refueling appointments.
Upon arrival, the robot performs the entire process without human intervention. Currently, these robots are compatible with over 500 vehicle models.
This development signifies a significant advancement in automation within everyday services, reflecting China’s broader efforts to integrate AI and robotics into daily life.
While such technology is still emerging, its successful implementation in Changsha suggests potential for broader adoption worldwide.
