Uber Partners with May Mobility to Launch Self-Driving Rides in Arlington

Uber Technologies Inc. has announced a multi-year partnership with autonomous vehicle startup May Mobility to deploy thousands of self-driving vehicles on its ride-hailing platform across U.S. cities, beginning with Arlington, Texas, by late 2025.

The collaboration aims to scale autonomous vehicle (AV) transportation in the United States, an estimated $1 trillion market.

Under the agreement, Uber will offer customers the option of selecting a May Mobility autonomous vehicle for qualifying trips. May Mobility will provide a fleet of American-made, hybrid-electric Toyota Sienna Autono-MaaS vehicles equipped with its patented Multi-Policy Decision Making (MPDM) technology.

The initial deployment in Arlington will begin with safety operators on board, transitioning to fully driverless operations over time. May Mobility has been operating in Arlington since 2021 and plans to expand to additional U.S. markets in 2026.

May Mobility, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has raised over $380 million in funding, with backing from Toyota and BMW. The company focuses on deploying autonomous vehicles in geofenced areas such as business districts, college campuses, and residential communities.
