UFC Champion Conor McGregor Calls for Irish Bitcoin Strategic Reserve

UFC champion and Irish presidential hopeful Conor McGregor has publicly called for the establishment of a national Bitcoin strategic reserve in Ireland.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), McGregor stated, “An Irish Bitcoin strategic reserve will give power to the people’s money,” emphasizing his belief in Bitcoin’s potential to empower citizens financially.

McGregor’s proposal has garnered attention from notable figures in the cryptocurrency community.

He has engaged with Anthony Pompliano, host of The Pomp Podcast, and David Bailey, a crypto advisor to former U.S. President Donald Trump, inviting them to discuss the initiative further.

The concept of a national Bitcoin reserve has been adopted by countries like El Salvador and Bhutan, and is under consideration in nations such as the Czech Republic and Russia.

Proponents argue that Bitcoin’s fixed supply and decentralization make it an effective hedge against inflation and a means to diversify national reserves.

While McGregor’s proposal has sparked debate in Ireland, it remains to be seen how it will influence national policy. As of now, the Irish government has not officially responded to the idea of establishing a Bitcoin strategic reserve.
