The Volonaut Airbike, created by Jetson ONE inventor Tomasz Patan, has completed its first successful flight—an achievement that signals a paradigm shift in personal aviation.
Constructed using ultralight carbon fiber and 3D-printed elements, the Airbike is seven times lighter than conventional motorcycles. Its raw, open-air design eliminates traditional safety cages, inviting riders to lean forward in a position similar to a sportbike.
Unlike lounge-style electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, the Airbike leans fully into adrenaline. Equipped with jet propulsion and stabilized by an in-house flight control system, the craft demonstrated the ability to hover steadily and maneuver through narrow forested terrain during its maiden voyage.
Volonaut’s proprietary technology allows the Airbike to glide smoothly at altitudes and angles that challenge standard eVTOLs. With speeds reaching 200 km/h (124 mph), the jet-powered platform blurs the line between motorcycle and aircraft, offering a futuristic riding experience above ground.
According to New Atlas, the Airbike combines minimal weight with advanced aerodynamics to deliver an unmatched ride in both rural and potentially urban environments. Tomasz Patan’s earlier success with Jetson ONE paved the way for this bolder, more extreme vehicle that caters to both thrill-seekers and frontier technologists.
