Jack Dorsey’s Bitchat Lets People Message Without Internet

According to public sources, Bitchat is a decentralized peer‑to‑peer messaging app built by Jack Dorsey that runs entirely over Bluetooth Low Energy mesh networks and functions offline without internet or mobile service.

The application supports encrypted direct messaging and group “rooms”, operates anonymously with no accounts or servers, and includes a panic mode that wipes stored data instantly.

Bitchat extends communication range by relaying messages hop‑by‑hop across participating devices, reaching up to approximately 300 meters in dense environment.

Currently in iOS beta via TestFlight with a 10,000‑user cap, future versions plan to include Wi‑Fi Direct for faster transfer and greater range.
