Oman’s New $350M Bitcoin Mining Hub Sets The Pace For Digital Economy

Salalah Free Zone Emerges as Oman’s Epicenter for Bitcoin Mining and Data Hosting

As global economies steadily turn their gaze towards digital currencies and blockchain technologies, Oman asserts its presence on the world stage. In a report by the Oman Daily Observer, The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) has unveiled a groundbreaking Bitcoin mining and data hosting center, nestled in the heart of the Salalah Free Zone. This move cements Oman’s position as a burgeoning hub for cryptocurrency activities, building on the momentum from a similar venture announced last year.

Second Cryptocurrency Mining Hub in Play

Following the inauguration of the $390 million facility in November 2022, the latest center marks Oman’s second massive investment in the cryptocurrency domain. With a combined worth of $740 million in these projects, the nation is paving the way to not only fortify its digital economy but also open doors to countless job opportunities for its citizens.

Exahertz International at the Forefront

Driving this transition is Exahertz International. Responsible for setting up these state-of-the-art centers, the company already has over 2,000 operational machines fueling this ambitious endeavor. Their plan is audacious; by the close of the year, the infrastructure will be augmented by an additional 15,000 devices.

CEO Sam Fedows of Exahertz International holds an expansive vision. Following a triumphant trial run in the Salalah Free Zone, he accentuates the possibility of Oman witnessing an explosion of blockchain-based hubs. He points to Oman’s rich resources – both energy and labor – as factors propelling this vision into a reality.

Global Reach and Future Prospects

As Oman strides confidently in the crypto arena, other nations, like Kyrgyzstan, are making similar advancements. With a $20 million investment alongside the Kambar-Ata-2 Hydro Power Plant, Kyrgyzstan showcases the universal tilt towards sustainable energy sources in cryptocurrency mining.

Looking ahead, Exahertz International is eyeing expansion in pivotal regions such as the Governorates of Al Jabal Al Akhtar and Al Dakhiliya, emphasizing broader access to their avant-garde facilities.
