Cipher Mining Expands with 1.5 GW Data Center Sites Option in Texas

Cipher Mining Inc. has secured option agreements to acquire 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of data center sites in West and North Texas. This strategic move strengthens the company’s presence in large-scale infrastructure, focusing on both high-performance computing (HPC) and Bitcoin mining.

The agreements target three distinct locations, each designed to host a capacity of 500 megawatts (MW), setting Cipher up for massive operational scalability.

With this acquisition, Cipher is poised to expand its self-mining hashrate, expected to reach approximately 13.5 EH/s by the end of 2024 and potentially 35 EH/s by 2025. This operational growth aligns with the company’s broader objective to lead in both Bitcoin and HPC sectors.

The company’s developments also include ongoing construction at its Black Pearl site, which is scheduled to deliver an additional 300 MW of capacity by mid-2025. Cipher Mining remains on track to finalize the acquisition of the Reveille data center, further bolstering its infrastructure by another 200 MW.
