The Proto team has launched the Mining Development Kit (MDK) beta program with the mission to decentralize Bitcoin mining and empower builders of all scales. Their goal is to strengthen the Bitcoin network through inclusivity and technological development, providing essential tools to enhance mining innovation.
Early beta feedback highlights insights from a variety of participants, including Bitaxe and ePIC Blockchain, both of whom praised the program’s user-friendly interface and pointed out opportunities for improvement in the firmware’s performance metrics and API access.
In the beta phase, Proto aimed to ensure access to development tools for miners and developers globally, regardless of their scale or location. Early participants have been instrumental in identifying critical issues, such as chip overheating linked to the thermal interface material application.
Proto’s mission is not just to improve mining systems but to decentralize the entire ecosystem. Proto is evolving the MDK firmware to focus on transparency, performance, and ease of use.
The company has also begun developing an API to allow seamless integration with third-party systems, a step that aligns with Proto’s commitment to accessibility and decentralization.
