Boeing Starliner Astronauts Stranded in Space Won’t Return Until 2025

NASA Delays Astronauts’ Return to Earth Due to Ongoing Issues with Boeing Starliner

NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who have been stranded aboard the International Space Station (ISS) for 80 days, will not return to Earth until February 2025.

Initially, their mission aboard Boeing’s Starliner was expected to last only eight days, but technical issues, including thruster failures and helium leaks, have caused significant delays.

NASA announced that the astronauts will return on a SpaceX Dragon Crew-9 mission, leaving the Starliner to return unmanned to Earth.

Boeing’s Starliner has faced multiple challenges, adding to the company’s growing list of setbacks in recent years. Boeing remains confident in the spacecraft’s capabilities, though NASA’s reliance on SpaceX for the astronauts’ return marks a significant blow to the aerospace giant’s reputation.
