HEX and PulseChain founder Richard Heart, whose legal name is Richard James Schueler, was reportedly detained in Istanbul on October 14 during an operation involving Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization and local police.
Euronews Turkey reports that Schueler was taken into custody in Beşiktaş. Its itemized account says officers seized about $600,000, €2,600, ₺50,000, 24 watches, gold jewelry, 12 phones, computers, storage devices, three pistols, four long guns, seven magazines and 1,360 rounds of ammunition.
The numbers are not fully settled. Other Turkish reports cited by international outlets describe roughly $4 million in cash and 64 watches. BitcoinVersus.Tech is treating the seizure inventory as reported, not independently confirmed, until Turkish authorities publish a formal statement.
Heart had been sought by Finland through an Interpol Red Notice connected to alleged aggravated tax fraud and an assault investigation. A Red Notice is a request for countries to locate and provisionally arrest a wanted person; it is not itself an international arrest warrant. No extradition to Finland has been confirmed.
The Istanbul matter is separate from Heart’s former U.S. SEC case. A federal judge dismissed that lawsuit in February 2025 on jurisdictional grounds, and the SEC later declined to amend it. Reuters reported that dismissal at the time.
