Bitcoin Verse of the Day — October 14, 2026

“Cryptocurrencies are the first step to a world with a global programmable money.”

Neha Narula

Neha Narula delivered this line in her 2016 TED talk, The Future of Money. In the original recording, the sentence begins at about 11:58. Seconds later, she explains the idea in practical terms: programmable money could let someone pay another person securely without signing up, asking permission, converting currencies or worrying about funds getting stuck.

The TED archive identifies the talk as a May 2016 TED@BCG Paris presentation. MIT Media Lab also archived the talk through its Digital Currency Initiative. A time-coded transcript places the verse at 11:58.

For Bitcoin, the verse points to a core idea: money can operate as software on an open network rather than only as an entry inside a bank’s system. That connects directly with BitcoinVersus coverage of the Bitcoin whitepaper, Satoshi Nakamoto’s letter to Wei Dai, and The 21 Laws of Bitcoin.
