WEMIX Relaunches $10,000 Bug Bounty

WEMIX has relaunched its blockchain bug bounty program with CertiK, offering vetted security researchers as much as $10,000 for finding critical vulnerabilities in the WEMIX3.0 network.

According to WEMIX’s October 14 announcement, the refreshed program covers the WEMIX3.0 blockchain and its governance smart contracts. Critical blockchain or distributed-ledger findings can earn $10,000, while high-severity findings pay $2,000 and medium findings pay $1,000. Critical smart-contract reports can receive between $2,000 and $10,000.

The program runs through CertiK Hunt, an invite-only security network. Researchers are vetted before gaining access, and the highest Vanguard tier is allowed to submit bug-bounty reports. Reports must include a proof of concept, CertiK performs the initial triage, and WEMIX makes the final reward decision. Payments are denominated in U.S. dollars and distributed in USDT on Ethereum after required identity verification.

CertiK has been expanding Hunt with live, vetted bug-bounty programs built around the same researcher and triage model used for WEMIX.

Why the Program Matters

Bug bounties are meant to find flaws before attackers do. That matters especially for programmable blockchains, where a mistake in smart-contract logic can directly affect assets. BitcoinVersus recently covered an XRP Ledger bug that could have created XRP improperly and a malware campaign targeting Web3 developers, illustrating how blockchain security problems can appear at both protocol and developer levels.

WEMIX is not claiming the new program makes its network immune to exploits. The practical change is that a defined group of researchers now has a formal incentive and review path for reporting vulnerabilities before they become incidents.

CertiK previously hosted WEMIX for a direct discussion of its blockchain security, auditing process and network development.
