Artificial intelligence is increasingly being used to transform modern hip-hop tracks into old school rhythm and blues (R&B) renditions. This trend highlights the deep roots of hip-hop in the blues genre, showcasing how technological advancements can bridge musical eras. Some AI-generated remixes have turned contemporary hip-hop songs – Like Young Thug’s “Lifestyle” – into tracks reminiscent of David Ruffin or Fred Hammond.
Another catchy track was a rendition of Future’s “Mask Off.” The fast-paced rhythm puts you right in the Disco era of the 1970s.
Another track that stood out to me was a Smokie Norful inspired “Hoes Ain’t Loyal” remix, originally created by Chris Brown. The song definitely sounds like it came out of a Motown Records studio.
AI-generated tracks have captured public interest. The songs offer a nostalgic experience and also underscore the timeless influence of R&B on contemporary music. As AI technology continues to evolve, we may see more official collaborations between artists and AI, blending the old with the new in innovative ways.
