Lenovo and the Olympic Council of Asia have signed a technology partnership that will run through 2030, making Lenovo the OCA’s Official Solutions and Services Partner as major sporting events in Asia become increasingly dependent on digital infrastructure, AI-assisted operations and connected services.
The agreement was announced on September 20, 2026, in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, during the 20th Asian Games. According to Lenovo’s official announcement, the partnership establishes a framework for the two organizations to explore how artificial intelligence can help manage complex event operations, support faster decision-making and create more connected experiences for fans.
The Olympic Council of Asia separately confirmed the agreement and said it was signed by OCA Director General Husain Al-Musallam and Lenovo Executive Vice President and Solutions and Services Group President Ken Wong at the Main Press Centre in Nagoya.
Major Sporting Events Are Also Technology Deployments
A modern multi-sport event is not only a collection of competitions. Behind the venues is a large temporary technology environment that must support organizers, timing systems, media teams, accreditation, communications, data services and thousands of devices used across different locations.
Lenovo is also serving as an official supplier of PC equipment and related services for the 20th Asian Games and the 5th Asian Para Games. The company says its work includes device deployment, maintenance, Plug-and-Play support and Device-as-a-Service lifecycle management. Those functions are less visible than the competition itself, but they are the type of operational systems that can determine whether event staff can reliably access information and keep services running.
AI Moves Into Sports Operations
The partnership does not mean that AI will automatically make operational decisions at future OCA events. Lenovo and the OCA describe the agreement as a framework to explore opportunities for AI. That distinction matters: the announced work is about evaluating where AI can improve coordination, analysis and user experience, not replacing human officials or guaranteeing specific outcomes.
Sports technology is already expanding well beyond scoreboards and broadcast graphics. A Longer-Term Technology Relationship
Lenovo’s involvement in large sporting events predates the new OCA agreement. The company served as a Worldwide Olympic Partner from 2004 through 2008 and supplied computing equipment for the Torino 2006 and Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. It has also supported events including the Hangzhou Asian Games and Harbin Asian Winter Games.
The 2030 agreement therefore represents a shift from one-event hardware support toward a longer services relationship. The most important technology story is not the sponsorship label itself, but the growing amount of computing, networking, device management and data infrastructure required to operate sporting events at continental scale.
