Atlas Energy Solutions is expanding its data-center power business with new customer-backed equipment agreements tied to a leading frontier AI lab.

One agreement covers long-lead-time infrastructure including electrical distribution equipment, battery energy storage and emissions-control systems. A second supports an additional 283 MW of Caterpillar power-generation equipment for the initial power ramp of a separate data-center project.

Atlas also signed a purchase agreement for another 328 MW of generating capacity scheduled for 2027 under its existing Caterpillar framework. The company did not identify the AI customer or disclose the financial terms.

The agreements highlight a growing constraint in the AI buildout: electricity and the physical infrastructure needed to deliver it. AI operators are increasingly securing generation, batteries and electrical equipment alongside GPUs and servers as they race to bring new compute capacity online.

The development follows the same infrastructure pressure visible in Nebius’ recent AI cloud price increases, where growing compute demand is putting pressure across the data-center stack.
