ONLYOFFICE has released version 10.0 of its open-source office suite with AI tools across documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and PDFs, plus modular apps and a large security and reliability update.
The company says the release includes more than 50 new features, over 1,000 bug fixes, and fixes for about 35 vulnerabilities. The official ONLYOFFICE 10.0 release notes also confirm a major change to how AI is handled: built-in AI was removed from the open-source versions, so AI tools are now installed separately.
That separation is important. It gives users more control over whether AI is present at all, while server deployments can connect different models—including local models for privacy-sensitive work. That model choice connects to the broader model-routing trend BitcoinVersus.Tech has been tracking across AI software.
AI Now Works Across the Whole Office Suite
In documents, the new AI tools can summarize, rewrite, simplify, translate, proofread, and help structure content. In spreadsheets, they can generate formulas, explain calculations, analyze datasets, identify trends, and help build forecasts and Pivot Tables. Presentations can use AI for outlines, slide titles, bullet points, speaker notes, and visual ideas. PDFs can be summarized, queried, and used as context for drafting other content.
The suite also adds quick AI actions, assistants, and reusable prompts. On server builds, users can select a default model and assign different models to different jobs rather than tying every task to one provider.

This is also where ONLYOFFICE starts looking less like a traditional office package and more like an extensible AI workspace. The company’s Document Server roadmap lists MCP and web-search support in the AI plugin, which connects the office suite to the same tool-using architecture appearing across modern AI agents.
BitcoinVersus.Tech has already covered how agentic AI stacks are becoming modular and how MCP-style connections let assistants reach live tools and documentation. ONLYOFFICE is bringing that architecture into ordinary document work.
The Apps Are Becoming Modular
ONLYOFFICE 10.0 introduces modular apps for AI Agents, Forms, Rooms, and Files. Users can turn on the pieces they need instead of loading every capability into one interface.
That matters most for self-hosted and enterprise deployments. Organizations that already think in terms of cloud and on-premises infrastructure can keep document editing close to their existing systems while choosing how much AI, file storage, collaboration, and automation to add.
PDFs and Spreadsheets Get Practical Upgrades
The PDF editor can remove hidden metadata, recognize tables automatically during text editing, reuse signatures in forms, and give users more control over annotations. Those are less flashy than AI, but they address routine privacy and document-cleanup problems.
Spreadsheets get performance work aimed at common functions including SUMIF, COUNTIFS, SUMIFS, AVERAGEIFS, MAXIFS, and MINIFS. Formula ranges can now be highlighted while editing, and the application can show better hints for function constants.
Presentations Can Export to Video
The presentation editor adds Outline View, Reading View, Notes Page, Notes Master, and Handout Master. Presentations can also be exported as GIFs or videos, while printing gains more control over notes, handouts, hidden slides, backgrounds, borders, comments, and slide numbers.
Security Is a Major Part of 10.0
ONLYOFFICE says version 10.0 fixes about 35 vulnerabilities. The broader release also adds privacy-oriented controls such as hidden-metadata removal in PDFs and keeps AI optional in open-source builds instead of forcing a model connection into every installation.
That is especially relevant as office software becomes another place where AI agents can read files, call tools, and automate actions. The old security model was mostly about protecting documents and accounts. The newer model also has to consider what connected AI systems are allowed to read and do.
Why It Matters
ONLYOFFICE 10 shows where open-source productivity software is heading: traditional editing is still the foundation, but AI, agents, plugins, local models, and modular services are becoming part of the same workspace.
The most interesting part may not be that AI exists inside an office suite. It is that ONLYOFFICE is trying to make the AI layer optional, swappable, and compatible with local deployment instead of treating one cloud model as the permanent center of the product.
