TeraWulf Signs 20-Year Anthropic Data Center Lease

BitcoinVersus.Tech reported in September 2025 on TeraWulf’s move from Bitcoin mining toward large-scale AI and HPC hosting. That strategy has now expanded into a direct 20-year lease with Anthropic.

In a July 6 SEC filing, TeraWulf said Anthropic will lease about 401 MW of critical IT load at the Justified Data Campus in Hawesville, Kentucky. TeraWulf expects roughly $19 billion of contracted lease revenue over the initial term. Capacity is scheduled to arrive in phases beginning in the second half of 2027, reaching the full 401 MW in early 2028.

An investor-community timeline tracks TeraWulf’s shift from the 2025 Fluidstack agreement to the 2026 Anthropic lease. It is supporting context, not primary evidence.

TeraWulf also agreed to sell its 50.1% interest in the Abernathy joint venture for about $530 million. The company said the proceeds would be redirected toward AI infrastructure it owns directly. Its August quarterly filing still reported Bitcoin-mining revenue, so this is a diversification strategy rather than a complete exit from mining.

TeraWulf CEO Paul Prager discusses the Anthropic lease in a July 2026 interview. Statements in the interview represent the company’s position.

The buildout has continued. BitcoinVersus.Tech recently covered TeraWulf’s 1 GW Muskie power expansion in Kentucky. The broader pattern resembles Applied Digital’s AI-infrastructure expansion: access to large blocks of power is becoming a major competitive asset for former mining-focused operators.
