TeraWulf has doubled the contracted power capacity of its Muskie Data Campus in eastern Kentucky from 500 MW to 1 GW, accelerating another large Bitcoin-miner-to-AI infrastructure conversion.
In its October 5 announcement, TeraWulf said the second 500 MW phase is now targeted for 2029 instead of 2030, subject to Kentucky regulatory approval and utility construction. The first 500 MW is still expected to begin ramping in 2028.
Data Center Dynamics reported that Kentucky Power is supporting the site with major transmission infrastructure. TeraWulf says the campus could eventually scale beyond 1 GW.
The move fits the broader pattern BitcoinVersus.Tech has tracked as Bitcoin miners discover that secured power is often their most valuable AI asset. TeraWulf already has AI/HPC hosting exposure through Fluidstack, while Google has disclosed a 7.6% warrant-linked TeraWulf stake.
The key takeaway is simple: Muskie is no longer just a site acquisition. It is becoming a gigawatt-scale power platform for AI and high-performance computing.

CEO Paul Prager’s current TeraWulf leadership role was cross-checked against LinkedIn. The 2029 second-phase schedule remains subject to regulatory approval and Kentucky Power’s construction schedule.
