Hood Warfare 2 Blows Up on Steam

Story-specific editorial gaming image of a Chicago-inspired multiplayer FPS battlefield with elevated trains, turf-control zones, weapon combat and a rising player-count graph.

Hood Warfare 2 has turned into one of Steam’s strangest breakout shooters of the week. Trapstar Games released the Chicago-set multiplayer FPS on October 8, and its player count has accelerated far beyond the roughly 4,400-concurrent-player snapshot circulating earlier this week.

As of October 14, a live Steam tracker recorded an all-time peak of 15,258 concurrent players. The Steam store currently lists the game at $5.39 during its introductory discount, with 79% of more than 1,100 user reviews positive.

Daily Loud helped push Hood Warfare 2 across social media by highlighting its low price and Chicago gang-war setup.

The comparison players keep making is Call of Duty, but that is community shorthand rather than an official connection. Hood Warfare 2 uses familiar multiplayer-FPS ideas—custom loadouts, perks, killstreaks and objective modes—then reframes them around fictional gang warfare. Modes include Turf War, GangBang, Chaos, Hit A Lick, Destroy The Block and Chain Snatch.

FearedBuck’s viral post focused on the Call of Duty-style multiplayer structure and exaggerated street humor.

The game is built in Unreal Engine 5 and includes weapon attachments such as sights, magazines, grips and suppressors. Its sudden rise fits a broader Steam environment where inexpensive games can spread extremely quickly through clips and social posts. BitcoinVersus has recently covered Steam’s massive 2026 sales pace, the rise of visually distinctive FPS games like Bodycam, and Unreal Engine 5’s growing role in modern games.

Trapstar Games’ official Hood Warfare 2 trailer shows the Chicago setting, rival sides and objective-based multiplayer style.

The game’s developer states that Hood Warfare 2 is fictional and does not promote or attempt to reproduce real-world gang violence. Its popularity is real, though: the sequel has moved from a small launch to a five-figure Steam peak in less than a week.
