BrainChip has launched Sequora, a processor IP core designed to run generative AI directly on battery-powered edge devices. The company said October 14 that the architecture can support models ranging from a few million parameters up to 3 billion while keeping memory use fixed as conversations or data streams grow.
According to BrainChip’s launch announcement, Sequora uses a state-space design aimed at low-power generative and sequential AI. BrainChip says it can be paired with Akida so one device handles streaming sensor workloads while Sequora runs language, voice and agent-style models.
BrainChip demonstrates its earlier Akida edge-AI hardware running local vision inference, providing context for the company’s push toward more capable on-device AI.
BrainChip’s current IP portfolio already targets ultra-low-power sensing, vision, audio and embedded inference. Sequora extends that strategy toward generative AI without requiring every interaction to be sent to a cloud service.
The launch fits a broader shift toward local AI. BitcoinVersus.Tech has recently covered Analog Devices’ $1.35 billion Alif deal, AI-capable earbuds and small AI models on IoT hardware. Sequora is available now as licensable RTL IP rather than a standalone consumer chip.
