Sony has paid security researcher Jordy, known as 2tonejordy on HackerOne, a $50,000 bounty after PlayStation marked a privately reported vulnerability as resolved. Dexerto reported the payout on October 14, while public HackerOne activity shows the $50,000 award attached to Jordy’s account.

Kalshi highlighted the payment on X. Jordy also joked after receiving the bounty that he could now afford GTA VI, which BitcoinVersus.Tech recently covered in our GTA VI launch-trailer story.

Sony’s Secure@Sony program confirms that the company accepts vulnerability reports for Sony products and runs a dedicated PlayStation Bug Bounty Program through HackerOne. The company uses responsible disclosure so researchers can report security flaws privately before technical details are made public.

The exact vulnerability behind Jordy’s $50,000 payment has not been publicly disclosed. That distinction matters because Jordy has previously been associated with discussion around PS5 security research, but the available public record does not establish that the new payout is for the same flaw.

The story also shows why console security research matters beyond piracy or jailbreaks. Modern game systems are networked computers with operating systems, accounts, payment services and hardware security boundaries. That makes responsible research relevant to the same platform evolution behind Sony and AMD’s PS6 work and the legal questions around an open-source PS5 ecosystem.
