Solidigm Weighs IPO at Up to $150 Billion as AI Storage Demand Surges

Enterprise SSDs, NAND flash memory and AI data center storage infrastructure

SK Hynix’s U.S. storage subsidiary Solidigm is considering an initial public offering as early as 2027 that could value the company at up to $150 billion, according to Reuters.

The potential offering could raise roughly $15 billion. Reuters reported that Solidigm held meetings this week with investment banks competing for roles in the IPO. The plans remain preliminary, however, and the valuation, timing and offering size could change.

The scale reflects the growing importance of storage in AI infrastructure. Solidigm builds enterprise solid-state drives using NAND flash memory for servers, cloud infrastructure and data centers. Training and operating large AI systems creates enormous datasets that must move between compute, memory and persistent storage efficiently.

Solidigm has increasingly targeted that market with high-capacity enterprise SSDs. A standalone valuation would also give investors a clearer measure of the storage business SK Hynix assembled after acquiring Intel’s NAND and SSD operations for about $9 billion in a transaction announced in 2020.

The possible IPO follows another major Solidigm development. BitcoinVersus.tech recently reported that Solidigm is weighing a U.S. NAND manufacturing plant, with upstate New York identified by Reuters as a leading candidate.

SK Hynix has previously said Solidigm is reviewing measures to strengthen its competitiveness but that no specific transaction has been determined. That distinction remains important: the IPO is currently under consideration rather than an announced offering.
