Pearl Abyss has delayed Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown by two weeks, moving the expansion from October 15 to October 29 while the development team spends additional time on stability and polish.

In its September 30 release-date update, Pearl Abyss said the team determined that more development time was needed to deliver a more polished and stable gameplay experience. The North American release is now scheduled for October 29 at 3:00 p.m. PT and 6:00 p.m. ET.

A short delay for a large expansion

The delay is relatively narrow, but the expansion itself is broad. Charting the Unknown extends the open-world action game beyond the existing landmass with sea travel, islands, underwater exploration, additional enemies and new stories.

Independent coverage from Gematsu confirms the move from October 15 to October 29 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC. Pearl Abyss has framed the extra two weeks specifically as refinement time rather than a change to the announced scope.

The scale puts the expansion alongside a broader run of large post-launch game updates. BitcoinVersus recently covered The Witcher 3 Remastered upgrade, another example of studios extending major releases with substantial technical and content work after launch.

The official September 30 Crimson Desert update gives the same two-week delay and says the additional time will be used to refine the content before players return to Pywel.

Crimson Desert’s official September 30 update moves Charting the Unknown to October 29 so the team can spend more time on polish and stability.

The trailer shows why the DLC needs room to land

The official reveal trailer shows an expansion built around more than additional combat encounters. Players can sail beyond the coast, explore islands, dive beneath the water and discover submerged locations, expanding the traversal systems that already define the base game.

Pearl Abyss’s official Charting the Unknown reveal trailer shows naval travel, new regions and underwater exploration planned for the expansion.

The open-world focus also connects with the technical challenge of keeping large environments populated and responsive. BitcoinVersus recently examined how GTA 6’s world density becomes a streaming and simulation problem, a different game but a useful comparison for the systems work behind ambitious open environments.

October 29 becomes the new target

For players, the practical change is straightforward: the expansion arrives two weeks later than originally announced. For Pearl Abyss, those fourteen days become a final buffer for stability and content refinement across multiple platforms.

The delay also lands during a busy period for large game releases and expansions. BitcoinVersus has recently followed that broader cycle through Minecraft Dungeons II and its new dimension, showing how major franchises are competing for attention with increasingly large content drops.

Charting the Unknown is now scheduled for October 29 GMT/PT, with the release rolling into October 30 in South Korea and Japan because of the time-zone difference. The underlying plan remains the same; Pearl Abyss is simply taking two additional weeks before opening the next part of Pywel.
