Does Nick Nurse Mine Bitcoin?

A rumor claims Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse mines Bitcoin or runs mining servers. BitcoinVersus.Tech could not verify it.

We searched direct interviews, official profiles and targeted web/social results. The 76ers’ official Nick Nurse profile identifies him as head coach and covers his background, but it does not say he owns or operates Bitcoin mining hardware. We found no first-party statement from Nurse or credible report confirming the claim. That does not prove he has never mined privately; it means the public claim currently lacks verifiable evidence.

The clearest documented Bitcoin connection around the Sixers is former team executive Daryl Morey. In a 2021 CoinDesk interview, Morey said he had accumulated Bitcoin by 2010–2011 and had given Bitcoin away on Twitter in 2011. Morey’s Bitcoin history should not be attributed to Nurse.

Morey’s 2011 Bitcoin giveaway post is a verifiable early crypto connection.

For context, real Bitcoin mining uses dedicated ASIC mining hardware, and pooled miners commonly communicate through Stratum. Our recent NBA technology coverage shows how easily sports and computing can overlap, but plausibility is not proof.

The Sixers’ official 2023 announcement confirms Nurse’s role as head coach.

Verdict: unverified. Until Nurse, the team or another credible primary source confirms mining ownership, the rumor should not be reported as fact.
