AI data centers are increasingly bringing their own electricity. Ranked by announced dedicated or on-site generation capacity, these are seven of the largest publicly documented projects BitcoinVersus.Tech could verify as of October 11, 2026. Capacity is planned or permitted—not necessarily operating.

1. Fermi Project Matador — 11 GW

Fermi America plans an 11 GW private-grid AI and energy campus near Amarillo, Texas, combining gas, nuclear, solar and storage.

2. Pacifico GW Ranch — 7.65 GW

GW Ranch in Pecos County has approval for up to 7.65 GW of gas generation plus batteries and solar for hyperscale data centers.

3. Nexus Hubbard — about 7.2 GW

Nexus’ Texas permit filings describe 31 turbines and 24 gas engines totaling roughly 7.2 GW beside a hyperscale data-center campus.

4. Project Star — 6.47 GW

Project Star pairs 6.47 GW of planned gas generation with an adjacent 5 GW Related Digital campus in Encinal, Texas.

5. Poolside Project Horizon — 2 GW

The proposed Pecos County campus was designed around 2 GW of behind-the-meter gas generation, though the project’s development status has become uncertain.

6. Microsoft Pecos — 2 GW

Microsoft says its new Pecos campus will add about 2 GW of data-center capacity and launch with co-located behind-the-meter gas power.

7. Alpha Digital Campus — 2 GW

PowerBridge’s planned Reeves County campus targets up to 2 GW using co-located generation for future hyperscale and AI tenants.

The trend is explained in our behind-the-meter power guide and our look at small gas turbines for AI data centers.

Editor’s Note

Rankings use announced project-scale generation and should not be read as operating capacity. Plans can change as permits, financing, customers and construction advance.
