A fresh manufacturer check changes the air-cooled efficiency list. MicroBT’s own M7X material now cleanly verifies the WhatsMiner M70S+ at 12.5 J/TH, which moves it into the top five and pushes the S21 XP out of the updated lineup. That makes this a direct follow-up to our previous air-cooled efficiency ranking.
| Rank | Machine | Hashrate | Power | Efficiency |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | Canaan Avalon A16XP | 300 TH/s | 3,850 W | 12.8 J/TH |
| 4 | MicroBT WhatsMiner M70S+ | Up to 280 TH/s | Up to 3,500 W | 12.5 J/TH |
| 3 | Bitdeer SEALMINER A3 Pro Air | 290 TH/s | 3,625 W | 12.5 J/TH |
| 2 | Bitmain Antminer S23 | 305 TH/s | 3,355 W | 11.0 J/TH |
| 1 | Bitdeer SEALMINER A4 Pro Air | 336 TH/s | 3,662.4 W | 10.9 J/TH |
5. Canaan Avalon A16XP — 12.8 J/TH
Canaan’s A16XP delivers 300 TH/s at 3,850 W and 12.8 J/TH. It is the least efficient machine in this five-model group, but it still sits well ahead of most previous-generation air-cooled hardware.

4. MicroBT WhatsMiner M70S+ — 12.5 J/TH
The M70S+ is rated at 12.5 J/TH, with MicroBT showing an air-cooled range up to 280 TH/s. At the upper end, that corresponds to roughly 3,500 W. The important change is verification: MicroBT’s own M7X presentation now gives enough manufacturer-backed detail to include the machine confidently.
3. Bitdeer SEALMINER A3 Pro Air — 12.5 J/TH
Bitdeer’s A3 Pro Air also lands at 12.5 J/TH, but with a 290 TH/s nominal rating and 3,625 W power draw. Because the efficiency number is tied, the A3 Pro Air takes the higher position here on nominal hashrate.
2. Bitmain Antminer S23 — 11.0 J/TH
The current BITMAIN shop listing shows the air-cooled S23 at 305 TH/s, 3,355 W and 11 J/TH. Earlier demonstrations showed higher-hashrate configurations, but the current manufacturer listing is the cleanest number to use for this ranking.
1. Bitdeer SEALMINER A4 Pro Air — 10.9 J/TH
Bitdeer’s SEALMINER A4 Pro Air remains the efficiency leader among the air-cooled machines in this comparison. Its published specification is 336 TH/s, 3,662.4 W and 10.9 J/TH.
What the List Shows
The air-cooled frontier is now packed tightly between 10.9 and 12.8 J/TH. That is why our separate most powerful air-cooled ASIC ranking does not produce the same order: raw terahashes and joules per terahash measure different things.
Operators should also remember that a machine’s nameplate figure is not the same as total facility efficiency. Fans, transformers, conductors, filtration and recirculated hot air can raise real energy use above the ASIC specification. Our explainer Your ASIC’s J/TH Is Not Your Site’s J/TH covers that gap.

Editor’s Note
Manufacturer J/TH values are nominal figures. Actual hashrate and power draw can vary with silicon, firmware, voltage, inlet temperature and operating mode. Where models tie on efficiency, this list uses nominal hashrate as the tiebreaker.
