Dogecoin Gets Apps as MyDoge V3 Connects to DogeOS

Dogecoin now has a direct wallet-to-app path through MyDoge V3 and the DogeOS application layer. MyDoge V3 is live on iOS and Android, while DogeOS has opened an EVM-compatible public testnet where developers can build trading, lending, stablecoin, gaming and other applications that use DOGE.

The important distinction is that DogeOS is a separate application layer. It does not turn Dogecoin Layer 1 into Ethereum, and the Dogecoin base chain’s payment-focused design remains intact.

DogeOS opened its public Chikyū testnet to builders on September 30, 2026.

MyDoge V3 Is Live

According to the official DogeOS release, MyDoge V3 arrived as an update to the existing mobile wallet. Existing users keep their Classic Wallet, seed phrase, private key, Dogecoin address, balances, tipping features and existing security settings.

V3 adds a second option called Social Wallet. It can be accessed through an X login, but it is still self-custodial and has its own seed phrase. DogeOS says users should enable two-factor authentication and a recovery email because the security of the connected X account becomes part of the access path.

The wallet also adds encrypted seed-phrase storage, passkeys, authenticator-app support, email verification, PIN protection and biometric protection for sensitive actions.

DogeOS founder Jordan Jefferson explains the project’s goal of giving Dogecoin holders an application layer while keeping DOGE at the center of the ecosystem.

DogeOS Apps Open Inside the Wallet

MyDoge V3 can now surface DogeOS applications directly inside the wallet. The initial categories include games, swaps, lending, staking, stablecoins, AI tools and prediction markets.

This is the first time the MyDoge wallet has put a DOGE balance and a Dogecoin-focused app ecosystem in the same interface. That does not guarantee those apps will attract lasting usage, but it gives Dogecoin holders a path beyond sending, tipping and merchant payments.

The Testnet Uses DOGE for Gas

DogeOS is bytecode-compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, so developers can use familiar Solidity, Hardhat, Foundry and ethers.js workflows. The Chikyū testnet uses DOGE as its native gas currency and has chain ID 6281971.

DogeOS says its application layer targets roughly three-second blocks and about 300 transactions per second on the current design, versus roughly one-minute blocks on Dogecoin Layer 1. Those are project-reported application-layer figures, not new performance numbers for Dogecoin itself.

Dogecoin Layer 1 Still Does the Basic Job

The Dogecoin base chain remains a proof-of-work payment network secured through Scrypt mining. BitcoinVersus previously examined that physical security model in Dogecoin’s Power Efficiency Index analysis.

That hardware side is still evolving too. Lokotech’s newer Scrypt mining chips are one example of continued development in the infrastructure that ultimately secures DOGE and Litecoin-style proof-of-work networks.

For readers new to that layer, BitcoinVersus also has a broader guide to how mining algorithms secure cryptocurrency networks.

The Security Model Is Still Evolving

The public testnet should not be confused with a production-ready Dogecoin extension. CoinDesk reported that the current setup relies on selected operators and additional security controls, while DogeOS wants a future Dogecoin Core upgrade to let Dogecoin miners verify application-layer proofs.

That miner-verification path is still proposed rather than active. DogeOS has not announced a mainnet launch date, so real DOGE usage, final security assumptions and production economics remain open questions.

Jordan Jefferson discusses why DogeOS is being built above Dogecoin instead of replacing the base layer, and how the team thinks about DeFi, games and other DOGE-native applications.

MyDoge Is Multichain Now

MyDoge V3 also broadens beyond DOGE. At launch it supports Dogecoin, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, Arbitrum One, Base, Optimism and Polygon, plus the DogeOS testnet. Multichain swaps are available for supported routes and liquidity pairs.

That choice is pragmatic rather than ideological: many Dogecoin users also hold BTC, ETH, SOL and stablecoins. MyDoge is trying to keep those users inside a DOGE-centered interface instead of forcing them into a separate multichain wallet.

What Is Confirmed

  • MyDoge V3 is live on iOS and Android.
  • DogeOS applications can be opened from inside the wallet.
  • The DogeOS Chikyū public testnet is live and EVM-compatible.
  • Testnet DOGE is used for transaction fees on DogeOS.
  • DogeOS does not change Dogecoin Layer 1 into a smart-contract chain.
  • The current application layer is still a testnet and no mainnet launch date has been announced.
  • A future design in which Dogecoin miners verify DogeOS proofs remains proposed rather than active.

Dogecoin began as a variation on the earlier cryptocurrency model and built its identity around simple peer-to-peer money, mining and internet culture. DogeOS is an attempt to add the application ecosystems seen on newer chains without rewriting that base-layer identity. Whether users actually move meaningful DOGE into those applications will be the more important test after mainnet.

Editor’s Note: DogeOS performance and ecosystem figures are project-reported. The public network is currently a testnet, and proposed miner-based proof verification should not be described as active Dogecoin consensus until the relevant software and activation path are finalized.
