KIOXIA Adds Liquid Cooling to Enterprise SSDs

Liquid-cooled enterprise SSDs installed in a dense data center storage rack

KIOXIA added direct liquid cooling support to its CM9 Series enterprise SSD lineup Monday, extending liquid-cooled data-center design beyond CPUs and GPUs into storage.

The October 12 announcement says the new E3.S CM9-DLC models support cold-plate-enabled servers while remaining compatible with traditional air cooling. Capacities reach 30.72 TB for read-intensive models and 25.6 TB for mixed-use drives.

KIOXIA investors have been tracking the company’s move toward liquid-cooled SSDs as rack power density rises.

KIOXIA lists sequential performance of up to 14.8 GB/s read and 11 GB/s write, with PCIe 5.0, NVMe 2.0, dual-port support and OCP Datacenter NVMe SSD 2.5 compliance. The drives are sampling to selected customers and are being shown at the 2026 OCP Global Summit.

The launch connects with BitcoinVersus.Tech coverage of data-center liquid cooling, megawatt AI cooling tests and server drive troubleshooting.

KIOXIA’s official overview explains its PCIe 5.0 enterprise and data-center SSD platform.
