HIVE Digital Technologies says Bitcoin mining remains the cash-generating base of a broader renewable-power strategy even as the company shifts some of its electrical infrastructure toward artificial intelligence and high-performance computing.
In a September 10 operating update, HIVE said its combined Bitcoin-hashrate and GPU-cloud businesses had exceeded $1 million in average daily revenue. Since August 21, the company said it had produced roughly 12 BTC per day while GPU-cloud operations generated about $100,000 per day.
The numbers show why Bitcoin miners increasingly describe electricity infrastructure as the core asset. BitcoinVersus.Tech previously covered how Bitcoin miners are becoming a blueprint for flexible AI power infrastructure as data-center developers compete for substations, interconnections and generation capacity.
HIVE describes that model as renewable energy flowing into digital infrastructure and then into sellable compute. In a separate company update on its Paraguay infrastructure, HIVE said it has built around green-energy-powered data centers and highlighted its experience using demand response to help balance Sweden’s electrical grid.
The model is not limited to hydro. BitcoinVersus.Tech recently reported that MicroBT says a 20 MW natural-gas Bitcoin mining system is operating in Canada, showing how miners are experimenting with different generation and behind-the-meter designs.
Cheap power alone is not enough; efficiency still determines how much Bitcoin can be produced from each megawatt. BitcoinVersus.Tech has also tracked Bitdeer’s hydro-backed infrastructure expansion in Bhutan, another example of renewable power being treated as a reusable compute asset.
HIVE’s figures are company-reported and preliminary, and the mix can change with Bitcoin price, network difficulty and GPU deployment. The broader point is narrower: for HIVE, Bitcoin mining still monetizes renewable electricity immediately, while the same land, substations and data-center expertise can increasingly be redirected toward longer-duration AI contracts.
