Epic Games has opened applications for a free professional bootcamp built around Unreal Editor for Fortnite and Verse. The program announced October 14 is aimed at game-industry professionals with at least three years of experience in development, art, teaching or related production work.
Developer discussion around Epic’s UE6 roadmap has focused heavily on Verse and the convergence of Unreal Engine and UEFN.
The training runs November 30 through December 4 for three hours per day. Participants then get two weeks to build a Fortnite island, with technical labs running December 7–18. The publishing deadline is January 4, and Epic plans to showcase selected projects January 15. Applications close November 6.
Epic’s GDC technical talk introduces Verse and the programming model behind its long-term game-development plans.
The coding angle matters because Epic says Verse will sit at the foundation of Unreal Engine 6’s future programming model. Inven Global’s earlier UE6 overview also highlighted UEFN convergence as one of the engine’s defining changes.
Community tooling is already appearing around Verse as developers experiment with new workflows ahead of UE6.
A practical 2026 walkthrough shows how a first Verse device is built and tested inside UEFN.
The program also fits a wider coding shift we have tracked across game development, including agent-assisted game-development loops, Codex skills for Unity development, and benchmarks for coding agents building playable games.
The immediate news is a free training program, not an Unreal Engine 6 release. But Epic is clearly using UEFN and Verse as the practical bridge for developers who want experience with the programming model it expects to carry forward.
