South Korea’s KT has launched dedicated links for AI infrastructure with bandwidth options up to 800 Gbps, expanding from the roughly 100 Gbps ceiling of its earlier dedicated-line offerings. KT announced the service on October 14, 2026 for organizations moving large volumes of data between AI data centers and other computing sites.
The new service adds 400 Gbps and 800 Gbps options and uses KT’s nationwide optical network. The company says it can design shortest-path and redundant routes between sites across roughly 840,000 kilometers of fiber coverage. That makes the launch a practical extension of the same 800G networking trend behind 800G NICs and co-packaged optics.
KT also says the service uses an All-Photonic Network, or APN, architecture intended to reduce intermediate optical-to-electrical conversions. Seoul Economic Daily independently reported the 800 Gbps launch and KT’s emphasis on lower-latency optical paths.
NTT demonstrates how an All-Photonic Network can establish direct optical paths while reducing electronic conversion inside the transport network.
The broader engineering problem is becoming more important as AI clusters spread across multiple buildings and campuses. Higher line rates alone do not remove every bottleneck: optics, switching, error correction, fiber plant and route design still matter. BitcoinVersus.Tech has tracked that progression through 448G and 1.6T optical standards work and the rising value of data-center fiber and cabling infrastructure.
