Nidec has unveiled the NIR3.0, an in-row coolant distribution unit designed for next-generation AI data centers using 800 VDC power architectures. The prototype is rated for up to 3.2 MW of cooling capacity and is being shown at the 2026 OCP Global Summit in San Jose.

Nidec says the higher-voltage DC input is intended to reduce power-conversion and transmission losses compared with conventional AC or lower-voltage DC distribution. The company is pairing that electrical architecture with megawatt-scale liquid cooling as GPU and accelerator racks move toward much higher thermal loads.

The design fits the same transition BitcoinVersus.Tech has tracked in 54V vs. 800V AI-rack power, Vertiv’s 800 VDC fault-management work, and Frore’s cooling work for 2,300W AI GPUs.

Nidec’s official announcement says mass production is targeted for the first half of 2027. Its OCP showcase page also lists the NIR3.0 as the company’s featured in-row cooling system. The 3.2 MW figure remains a manufacturer specification until production deployments independently validate it.
