Luxor Technology announced a $16 million strategic investment round on October 27, 2026, led by CMT Digital and joined by Bitcoin mining hardware manufacturers Canaan and MicroBT, plus Halo, Steelhead and angel investors. The Seattle company plans to scale AI hardware brokerage, compute derivatives and agent-oriented cloud software using capabilities originally built for Bitcoin mining.

The financing contains both primary and secondary capital. Luxor did not disclose the split, so the full $16 million should not be described as new cash available for expansion. The announcement follows its September 24 launch of Luxor AI.

From mining hardware to AI infrastructure

Luxor says its ASIC hardware brokerage has traded $1 billion in mining equipment, while its energy arm services more than 75 MW across ERCOT and SPP. Its agentic cloud platform recorded 1.8 million workloads year-to-date through September, according to the company’s own disclosure. Those figures refer to different business activities and are not revenue totals.

The investment is intended to provide working capital for GPU and AI-server procurement, expand compute market-making and derivatives, increase cloud capabilities and support engineering and commercial hiring. Luxor already offers privately negotiated, cash-settled options and forwards tied to compute-rental indexes. Such products help buyers and operators manage price risk, but do not imply a fully liquid public exchange for computing capacity.

Why the investor list matters

Canaan CEO Nangeng Zhang characterized the stake as aligned with the manufacturer’s North American energy and compute strategy. The participation of both Canaan and MicroBT connects ASIC supply chains to financing for GPU infrastructure. CMT Digital brings electronic-trading expertise, while Luxor supplies operational experience from hashrate derivatives and forward Bitcoin mining markets.

The larger shift is from selling and operating Bitcoin mining resources toward financing and trading computation itself. Luxor’s earlier AI infrastructure expansion established the strategy; the new financing gives it additional investor participation. Actual revenue, deployment scale and trading volumes from the newly funded businesses remain to be demonstrated.
