Chucklefish and co-developer Robotality have set January 28, 2027, as the release date for Witchbrook, the long-awaited magic-school life simulation game. Announced during Nintendo’s October 28 Indie World showcase, the launch will cover PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

The announcement gives the game its first specific release date after earlier targets slipped from 2025 into 2026. It also confirms a PlayStation 5 edition for launch day and a $24.99 U.S. digital price. Chucklefish says standard and collector’s physical editions are planned for later, with details to follow.

Set in the coastal town of Mossport, the pixel-art game follows a student learning magic at Witchbrook College while developing friendships, studying spells and building a life outside class. Its design combines school assignments, seasonal activities, home customization and relationship stories, with online cooperative play for up to four people.

What the New Trailer Shows

The latest footage highlights potion-making, tarot, spellcasting, academic progression and the college’s ghostly chancellor, nicknamed the Deadmaster by students. Chucklefish also introduced Kiara Chandra, a postgraduate student interested in the arcane arts. These are developer-announced features, not findings from an independent review.

In its official media fact sheet, Chucklefish lists classes in alchemy, astrology, tarot and rituals. Players can renovate a woodland cottage, maintain a garden, work in town or start a small witch business. Friendship and romance form part of the progression, while cooperative play lets friends explore Mossport together.

The game arrives in a crowded period for Nintendo and indie releases. BitcoinVersus.Tech recently examined 2026’s most-watched game trailers, open-world game design and another four-player release headed to consoles. For Witchbrook, its handcrafted pixel world and four-player social systems will be central to whether the extended development delivers a cohesive experience.

There are still questions before launch, including performance on older hardware and how much progress is shared in online sessions. The confirmed January date is a meaningful milestone, but the game’s stability and gameplay balance cannot be established until independent reviewers and players can test the finished release.
